Evening of Remembrance

On Sunday evening, November 17th, we will hold our annual Evening of Remembrance, a beautiful candlelit ceremony at the Vihara.

The evening begins with a single sitting and walking meditation period, and then we will regather for a special ceremony of remembrance to honor our loved ones who have passed away, including our dear sangha sister Susan Hadler and sangha brother Jim Schrider. We will use this time to reflect and share about living beings we have loved and are no longer with us. We may also wish to share about relationships and stages of our lives that have passed but are still asking for our remembrance and gratitude.

This will be a time of deep listening and an opportunity to share memories, experiences, and the jewels of wisdom and compassion we have gained through knowing these beings in life and death. You are invited to bring a photo, memento, story, song, poem, letter, thought, insight … to share with the community, as well as your open heart to hear and support the sharing of others. This is the 18th year we have held this candlelight session, which has been a wonderful source of deep sharing and peace. Please join the community for this deeply meaningful evening.
